Read Aloud with Clear Endings
Read a short passage aloud, focusing on pronouncing the final consonant of each word clearly. Many people unconsciously drop ending sounds, which reduces clarity.
Instructions
- Choose a short paragraph from any book or article.
- Read it aloud at a moderate pace.
- Focus especially on the last consonant of each word — make sure it's audible.
- Example: In 'walked', the final 't' should be crisp, not swallowed.
- Read the same passage twice — second time even more deliberately.
Repetitions: 2 passages, each read twice
Common Mistakes
- Swallowing the final consonant sounds
- Reading too fast to notice dropped endings
- Not pausing at punctuation marks
Variations
- Try reading the passage faster on the third repetition while keeping endings clear
- Record yourself and listen back to check your clarity
No physical risk. If you feel throat dryness, take water breaks between passages.
